Awake: 7:00am Temp 67 sleep 7+06 mostly sunny overnight @ Nicktown.
Mid afternoon, I visited neighbor Chuck out of curiosity; he was in the midst of replacing a non-working starter solenoid on his quad runner. Problem was: the old solenoid unit would start the engine but the starter motor would continue running....which is not good. Just today, Chuck bought a new replacement solenoid but it doesn't match his old one; the mounting & electrical connections are different. Chuck graciously allowed me to help him with this project which involved splicing & soldering a few wires, then taping & mounting that solenoid. With all the electrical connections finished, Chuck turned the key & the engine started right up without the starter motor running. My job was now finished as Chuck was able to do the rest. During most of this process, neighbor Al showed up on his quad runner & casually waited until my time with Chuck's project was over.
Next in line was Al's lawnmower dilemma; when 1st purchased, I believe Al told me the engine didn't run fast enough to do a good job of mowing, so Al had Ken in Spangler adjust the governor for a higher speed. After that, I learned that Al's mower was continually running @ full speed, using a lot of fuel & sounding like a miniature hurricane.
Al had taken the cover & the air cleaner off the mower in anticipation of my access to the governor adjustment. Try as I might, when running the mower engine, I could not slow the RPM down by using the adjuster tab. Finally, after ½ dozen adjuster attempts, I got lucky & realized that the plastic half wheel connector to the governor itself, had somehow jumped over a mid speed slab & onto the high speed notch. I quickly moved that half wheel back to the normal adjustment slab & had Al: "Start your engine." "That's more like it" I muttered to Al; I hope that problem is solved.
Dinner: Tuna steak, brown rice with golden raisins, mixed salad & Bing cherries.
Lights out: 11:45pm
