Awake: 6:07am Temp 32 sleep 6+02 frost…sunny overnight @ Frostproof, FL.
After the frost thaws out, we retract our slides, say our goodbyes to Jean in the office & Mike’s son, Rick, & leave the Lakemont Ridge Home & RV Park in Frostproof, @ 11:34am ….following U.S.-98 west to U.S.-17 south, we arrive @ the Gulf View RV Resort in Punta Gorda, FL @ 1:18pm.
Today’s travel: 83 miles 2+18 time 14 gal used 6.0 mpg 36 avg speed.
When Kathy called this campground & dealt with Diane for a parking space, I think they didn’t fully realize the 45 ft size of our motorhome. We sat in the office for a good (20) min while (2) of their workers hunted for a suitable campsite that we could squeeze into; than another (20) min maneuvering into that campsite. The park is very nice but definitely not big rig friendly.
After getting setup & comfortable, we walk the campground for exercise & curiosity for (40) min. Then visit the nearby Wal-Mart for more veggies & milk.
Then it’s ABC news time, Jeopardy & O’Reilly Factor with dinner: Spicy crab & vermicelli & a salad.
Tonight’s movie: “San Francisco” with Clark Gable, Jeanette MacDonald, Spencer Tracy, Jack Holt, Jessie Ralph, Ted Healy, etc. Top-grade entertainment with extremely lavish production; Jeanette overdoes it a bit as the belle of San Francisco but the music, Tracy’s performance & earthquake climax are still fine. 1936. Earthquake scenes were unbelievably real for the time period; we watched that part twice; definitely a keeper.
Lights out: 12:21am
