Awake: 5:00am Temp ? sleep 5+35 overcast overnight @ Indiana, PA.
Melissa calls @ 5:00am: the flight out of Latrobe for Nick & family has been cancelled due to fog @ Detroit Metro the evening before (ie, the plane never made it to Latrobe). Nick has an important meeting to attend tomorrow & desperately needs to be there. When I talk with Nick, he reports that both Jerry & Andrew had a bad night, thus Nick & Eriko + Melissa didn’t get much sleep. Nick sort of hints that maybe we would like to join them in staying around for another day; “sure, and watch you guys take naps all afternoon!” I reply. Nick is hoping that Melissa can find them another airport to fly out of & maybe get back to Seattle later today.
Anyway, we wish them good luck, safe travels, bon voyage, etcetera & to keep in touch.
After breakfast, we take our final bags to the car, check out @ the front desk & start driving @ 7:40am. 1st stop…Nicktown, to pick up our mail; 2nd stop in Ebensburg to make a deposit @ the bank; then Kathy takes the wheel & drives (160) miles. As we are pulling into a rest stop for lunch, my bro calls from PA & lets us know that we got out of town @ the right time, “the weather is miserable” he reports. Lunch by Kathy: tuna salad, Triscuits & ½ of a banana.
Then it’s my turn behind the wheel. With a fuel stop in Daniels, W.V. (14) gal @ $1.80 per gal; we continue & add another (413) miles from the rest stop…thru lots of rain with fog @ the higher elevations…for a total mileage today of (573).
Kathy scanned the West Virginia tourist manual & found a coupon with a discount of $30.00 off the Best Western Hotel in Wytheville, Virginia. This Hotel had recently been renovated & was like new & our room was like…wow, compared to some of those other hotels/motels we have been staying in lately.
Just down the road from the Best Western, we have dinner @ the Cracker Barrel where we share a catfish dinner with, pinto beans, country style green beans, & corn muffins .
Back in our hotel, I respond to Zack’s e-mail with a phone call regarding his Camry & checking radiator coolant + other subjects of interest.
