Awake: 5:42am Temp 62 sleep 6+27 rain…heavy @ times overnight @ Nicktown.

K & I attend 8:00am Mass & then join the KK for (1.5) hrs. Hot topic: distinguished guest, Tom H. bringing us up-to-date on atomic energy & submarines.

Rotary meeting today; Al is sworn in as President for the 2nd time. We drive separate cars as he will be delayed after the meeting.

Lunch @ Rotary by Donna B: Roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, salad & cake for dessert. Al’s 1st request as President: retain Donna as chief chef. (She is outgoing Pres).

Stop @ Sheetz for air in driver’s side front tire. Then K & I motor to Johnstown (30) miles, with our Eureka vacuum cleaner to visit Ernie @ Krisay’s repair shop. He checks the broken plastic canister, double checks the model & serial #, copies our address & will give us a call when the new parts come in.

As long as we are in the Johnstown area, we might as well make our trip worthwhile & visit Conzatti’s Deli to buy some of their delicious sweet Italian sausage & other items of good taste. We are back to Nicktown @ 4:45pm.

Dinner: stuffed pepper, salad & peaches. More heavy rain with thunder & lightening during our meal time.

We watch the O’Reilly Factor & then a DVR movie: “Female” with Ruth Chatterton, George Brent, Ferdinand Gottschalk, Philip Faversham, Ruth Donnelly, etc. Chatterton runs a major auto company with an iron hand…& tries to conduct her love life the same way…until independent minded Brent comes along. (The two stars were then married in real life.) Funny, fascinating role-reversal yarn with incredibly lavish set design. 1933. A short story (60 min) but quite good.
Lights out: 11:48pm
