Awake: 6:43am Temp 72 sleep 7+19 fog…..rain overnight @ Nicktown, PA.
“Happy Birthday to me!” We drive to the Koffee Klub meeting where Kathy exposes her grandmother challenges of the last few days. She leaves early to help make more noodles. After the meeting, I give John B., Bill M., & Regina a tour of the (2) workout rooms where K & I exercise. Then I practice what I preach & exercise for 45 min.
Back in the bus, Melissa calls from her home with birthday wishes; we talk about how well Nathaniel is feeding & how good she is feeling. In fact, she asks me if I would like some visitors for my birthday. “Sure” I tell her. “Are you ok with all the activity though?” I ask. “The only thing that might hold her back from visiting is their disorganization” she tells me.
Meanwhile, Kevin & Melissa have given me a multi-functional TV, VCR, DVD unit to fix; the DVD player does not recognize the disk. I’ve been saving this project for last & today’s the day to get started. 1st of all, getting the case open to take some readings required a special long screwdriver; in fact the local Krumenacker Hardware store saved the day by having an extension driver that worked in taking out the (15) screws holding the case together. After some checking & re-checking, I’m @ a loss for info that could help me in troubleshooting the DVD section. Kathy returns from making noodles @ 1:30pm.
I set that TV unit aside for now & take the Skil 3/8” drill apart that Kevin feels might be ruined.
Meanwhile, Nick calls with birthday wishes from Seattle; I like hearing from our kids on these special days that seem to bring us together for a few minutes. Nick is getting ready to attend a co-worker’s party & it’s looking like rain.
Not too much later, Zack calls with birthday wishes; he is en route to change some of his company’s paper stock into digital form. I compliment him on securing his investments.
Later Katrina calls en route to her house & dog sitting; she has birthday wishes as well. After checking the house & dog, she plans on meeting a friend & seeing a baseball game tonight. It is comforting to hear that our kids are usually quite busy & enjoying themselves.
After cleaning up the commutator on Kevin’s drill with emery cloth & re-assembling, the test failed & the motor is shot; too many circuits burned out. Sorry Kevin.
Melissa calls to tell us she couldn’t get organized well enough to make the visit today. She apologizes for that false intention.
Dinner: Italian beef au jus with sweet peppers from Chicago on maxi whole wheat buns.
K & I watch (40) min of the movie: “Brotherly Love.” Somebody was falling asleep so the theater closed early for the night.
